Magnolias!

Hello! The magnolia trees have started blooming! I've never seen a magnolia before. They're so big! The trees they grow on are so unsuspecting and plain until they start blooming. Maybe that's what's jumpstarting my allergies?

This week, Sister Barney and I had the privilege of dying a turkey green for a Relief Society activity on Tuesday. We were going to be learning about the different kinds of cancer, so each person was supposed to bring a certain-colored food that matched a kind of cancer. We had no idea what green was (I have since discovered it was liver cancer), but it was fun to dye a turkey green, lemme tell ya.

I've also tried a lime Koolickle this week. Those are not as good as cherry Koolickles, for the record. Sister Bartsch is trying her hand at making black cherry Koolickles, so I'll let you know how that goes!

Everyday is an adventure on a mission. From reading other missionaries' e-mails to talking to other companionships, I've discovered that so many amazing things happen everyday when you choose to serve the Lord. You meet the most amazing people with truly powerful testimonies. You have the opportunity to see different lifestyles and how they have affected the conversion of a disciple of Christ.

People are put into your life for a reason. I've talked to a lot of people about how different personalities just click, and how others just don't. I think more often than not, people forget that missionaries are people, just like you, with personalities that mix and clash, just like you. And there's no reason to be discouraged about that! As much as I would love it if we all got along, the world wouldn't be half as exciting as it is now!

In my missionary work, I often think of Paul. I've been studying him and his ministry every night, and Sister Barney pointed out something fascinating; when Paul was called as an apostle, he had just been present for the stoning of Stephen and even held the clothes of those who were stoning him. He was off on his merry way to continue to destroy the Christian church when he had a vision and the Lord appeared to him.

Now, why would the Lord appear to Paul? That is not at all someone I would have picked to be an apostle! He hated the church; he was actively trying to destroy it. And yet, the Lord called upon him, and Paul underwent a complete 180, and became an apostle in the Lord's church. He became one of the boldest, most spiritually-led and passionate missionaries to have ever served for our Savior. Throughout his ministry, Paul was persecuted left and right, hated in almost every city -- but he taught and baptized so many people.

Paul was called for his dedication. He was called for his passion, his spirit, his want to serve. He gave himself to the Lord the moment he knew it was right, and that is why Christ needed him. Through the Atonement, Paul was able to become that person that God needed him to be.

Often we feel like we need to be the perfect person; to be the perfect disciple, to be the perfection we read about in the scriptures. It gets overwhelming to constantly try and reach for the better things when they seem too far away.

You must remind yourself that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ. You are a son or daughter of God. You might not have been called on a mission, but you've been called to earth for a divine purpose. God put you right where you are for a reason. He has called you here for you; He knows you and all your little imperfections. He knows that I like waking up early but sometimes struggle getting to bed; He knows that I want to be led by the Spirit, but, like most people, second guess my thoughts.

He sent you here to teach you. It is your time to grow. It is your time to change.

Be changed in Christ, and your world will be all the more brighter.

Sorry for the short e-mail. We have much to do! Love y'all!

Godspeed!

Sincerely,

Sister Rose

P.S. Thanks to y'all who read and support me! I appreciate y'all so much!
