Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice!

Good morning to the lovely inhabitants of the earth! It's a crisp, fall morning here in Biloxi! It's taken eons for the weather to start cooling down, but it's happening! The mornings and evenings are heavenly. I wish I could capture it in a video to send to all of you. It's amazing.

Much has happened this week since transfers! We discovered that the Woolmarket area has been shut down, and so the D'iberville elders will now be taking over that area as an addition to their own. Thus, we say goodbye to Elders Tenifa and Roberts. Where they went, we have no idea! But I'm sure they're off to bless whomever God puts into their paths.

The district has now been renovated! The current companionships in the Biloxi district are as follows:

D'iberville: Elders Hunt and Chukwu (with whom I served in the Jackson Zone!)
Biloxi Spaniards: Elders Ahanonu and Scoresby
Ocean Springs Elders: Elders Houston and Clark (from my MTC district! What's up!)
Ocean Springs Sisters: Sisters Lindberg and Thompson (with whom I served in the Hattiesburg Zone!)

And who is my lovely companion, you may ask? Well, you might recognize her. She was kind of one of my MTC companions --

-- Sister Maughan!

She's joined us from Petal, Mississippi. Sorry for stealing your sister, Petal. But, we're glad to have her in Biloxi. I'm excited to serve with her again!

We've had quite the adventures here in Biloxi. It's interesting how the Lord puts the most fascinating people in your path. We made a valiant attempt at teaching a drunk guy this week. I'm becoming fluent in Slurred Speech. We talked to another couple of guys who believed in God, but not in Jesus Christ. That's a first! They had interesting things to say, but all the while the Spirit kept confirming to me that the only way to know the truth would be to ask God -- He knows the truth, and He will reveal it to you if you sincerely ask Him to.

We also talked to a conspiracy theorist who tried to convince us that the world was flat and that the fluoride in toothpaste messes with your brain. Awesome. I've learned so much.

Sister Maughan said something rather profound this week! As we were teaching, she said, "You can believe in something all you want, but until that belief is manifest in an action, it just remains as that. and your faith is stunted." As you exercise your faith and try to do all you can do where God has put you, miracles begin to happen. That is when your faith increases, as Alma describes in Alma chapter 32.

The other day, Sister Maughan and I were trying some potentials from our Area Book. We knocked on a door, looking for a young girl who'd previously been taught by missionaries. However, a man cradling a phone between his shoulder and chin opened the door instead. He gave us a quizzical look, and asked what we wanted.

After expressing our purpose, he nodded, told his friend he'd call back, and stepped onto his porch to talk to us.

In the pursuit of truth, Heavenly Father puts us in the path of those things that will lead us to our answers. That is one large reason why I love knocking on doors. You never know who was praying for the truth, and who was praying to know that they had a Father in Heaven who loves them.

We talked to this man for a good half hour. We explained the Book of Mormon to him; the Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book on earth. And man can come closer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book. It's a record of ancient inhabitants in the American continent who prophesied of Christ, taught of Christ, and laid out plainly the doctrine by which men can be saved.

As we talked, I felt the Spirit swell in my chest. The man listened intently, and he kept asking if he could have one of those books. Yes, we told him! Of course! He promised to read it.

Heavenly Father works miracles when you work. He helps you when you do your best. He makes up for what you cannot. He is the filler in the holes. He is the miracle in your darkest time.

I know that this Church is led by prophets and apostles who have been called of God. We were able to hear from them this weekend at General Conference. What were your favorite talks? Let me know! There was an overwhelming message of love, repentance, and learning to be like Christ.

Jesus Christ is to be the center of our lives. In our pursuit of truth, we must have our eye single to Him and the Father. We must know where They want us to go, and who They want us to be. The person we can be in Them is the person we ought to reach for. I cannot comprehend the blessings that are in store for those who truly seek to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I am reminded of a scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 19. In verse 23, we read, "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my spirit, and you shall have peace in me."

Learn of Christ, brothers and sisters. From General Conference, we learned how we can repent, change, and become more like Him. That is one of our principle purposes here on this earth. We are to learn, listen, and walk.

How are you walking?

Have a good week.

Love y'all.

Godspeed!

Sincerely,

Sister Rose

T-Day when the truck was being loaded. We're too hardcore for all of you. (Left to right): Sister Steadman, Sister Lindberg, Sister Bennett, Sister Conder, and ME! (I look like a hobo. Yikes.)

Companionship selfie!

Biloxi has pretty sunsets sometimes :)
